Lining Options

One of the reasons that custom treatments are so appealing to condo owners in particular is that you can choose a beautiful colourful fabric for your treatment, but still have "white to the road."

Lining also acts as insulation in conjunction with your fabric and therefore can keep your heating or cooling costs down. Draperies have the highest R rating and for a client that is looking to save energy, this is a great added value. An R value refers to an object's ability to resist heat loss. Adding lining to a drapery treatment more than doubles your R rating.

Cotton Lining: ivory or white

This is your standard choice and works well with every fabric besides silk. It will not block much light, but will protect your fabric from sun damage. Again, this lining comes in ivory and white and is coordinated with your fabric choice. The cotton lining that we use at Window Wraps is both water and stain repellent.

Blackout: ivory or white

Blackout lining is a bit of a stiffer and heavier option for your draperies. If you have a lighter fabric that you are hoping to give some weight to, this is a great option, and of course, it provides light control for your space.

Generally speaking, we use blackout lining most often in bedrooms to ensure that very little light enters the space while sleeping. Although this does block most light, nothing is 100% blackout as light has the potential to escape out the sides or top of a treatment. To avoid this as much as possible, we recommend hanging the treatment well above your trim and having it push back past the window at least 10 inches.
